Text: Matthew 13:24-33
The Kingdom's Enemies
In this passage, good seed is sown during the day and in full view. At night, "his enemy" came in to sow tares among the wheat. The design of the attack is to look like wheat. There are things sown in the Kingdom of God that were not sown by God or His people.
What kind of bad things are sown into the Kingdom of God?
Words
Bad attitudes
People are not the ones sowing bad seed in your life. It's the enemy. People can do things that open the door for the enemy. If I've got bad seed in my life, it's my fault. I accepted it.
The Kingdom's Corruption
Verses 31-33 relate the story of the mustard seed. Everyone thinks this is a good parable, but it's not. Mustard seed is an herb and grows into a bush, not a tree. So, here we see the nature of the plant has changed. It also talks about the birds of the air taking shelter in this tree. Birds always represent Satan and his kingdom in Scripture.
This parable shows the Kingdom of God being corrupted. This can occur through false doctrine or teaching.
