Text: I Timothy 4:1-8 and Various
We've been looking at how to avoid false doctrine. I Timothy 4:1-8 talks about departing from the faith. The actual Greek word is, "aphistemi," which means, cause to revolt, desert, lead away, mislead, depart, fall away, abstain from, withdraw from.
1. The deception is not to attack your belief in God because you'd resist this.
2. Instead, the deception steers you away from sound doctrine or His Word. This path will end up taking you away from your relationship with the Lord.
This scripture also talks about giving heed or paying attention to a doctrine contrary to the Word of God.
1. Your attention is captured by a new way of thinking.
2. Everything comes back to it when you try to bring them back to the truth. This new doctrine has become the only important one to them, and those who do not see the light of it are scorned.
