Sunday Morning Series - Bearing Fruit For God - On Display
Text: Luke 3:1-14, 2 Corinthians 9, Phil. 1:9-11, James 3:10-18
Since we have repented and have received the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, our fruit should be on display. Fruit can be seen and measured. God wants true fruit.
How do we increase fruit in our lives? In 2 Corinth. 9, Paul talks about their gift and not their tithe. You don't purpose in your heart to tithe; you purpose in your heart to give. Giving as God directs is an act of obedience and opens the door toward yielding other areas of your life to Him. If you hang onto your money when God is impressing you to give, you'll hang onto your anger, guilt, and depression.

Sunday Morning Series - Bearing Fruit For God - Fruit and Produce
Text: Matthew 7:15-29
Why does the term "false prophets" contain the word "prophets?" It's because they appear or present themselves as one of God's prophets, but they are attached to the wrong vine. Their emphasis is on the gift and not the source.
Does this mean that all prophets are false? Of course not! If there are false prophets, there are genuine ones. We're told not to despise prophesying.
So how can we tell whether a prophet is true or false? This scripture says we'll know (epiginosko - observe, fully perceive, notice attentively, discern, recognize) them by their fruit. A good tree produces good fruit. False prophets talk one way and acts another. Fruit isn't having a large meeting or seeing many miracles. It's about their life. Their words locate them: are they gossips, do they dishonor the Word of God, are they nasty or rude?
