Sunday Morning Series - Hear, Test, Believe - First Things First

Text:  I John 4:1-3 & Various

We're starting a new series today on knowing the voice of God. Knowing what God told you can be a matter of life and death as seen in the life of King Josiah. He thought God wanted him to fight a particular battle, but he was wrong. It cost him his life.

This scripture is written to believers, and they're exhorted not to believe every spirit. We are to test them to see if they're of God. There are many voices:

1.  The Holy Spirit.
2.  Our spirit.
3.  Our flesh.
4.  Other people.
5.  Wrong spirits.

Before you believe and act upon something you've heard:

1.  Is this something God would speak to you about? If it's for someone else, are they being mentored by you or under your direct authority as a church leader? Do you have authority in their lives?

2.  Fasting will help us discern the difference between the voice of our spirit and the voice of our flesh.

3.  If a matter is in another person's jurisdiction, why would God speak to you about it?

Faith in the wrong voice will take you down a wrong path, as will not believing in the right voice.

Special Meetings - Blessed!

Jay and Tammy Hoskins were with us for five awesome meetings from Thursday, 6/9, through Sunday, 6/12.
Tammy sang and ministered along with our worship team, while Jay brought messages on the Presence of God. The Lord worked mightily in the lives of members and visitors. Here are just a few highlights:

1.  We don't worship to bring the Presence of God into our midst. We worship to enter into the Presence of God that's already there.

2.  God is omnipresent. If we want to enter His Presence, we must be aware and refocus our attention on Him through praise and worship.

3.  A young man, who recently had knee surgery, was totally healed and removed his brace.

4.  A woman was healed from back pain.

5.  A marriage was saved and the wife and baby healed.

The services are available on the sermon player on our website. Please visit and click on the Listen Tab.

Sunday Morning Series - Walking In The Authority of Jesus - Don't Feed The Animals

Text:  2 Samuel 15:1-37

When we go to the zoo or national parks, there are signs everywhere not to feed the animals. At the shore, people are instructed to not feed the seagulls. The wildlife becomes accustomed to people feeding them, and they soon become aggressive.

Sometimes we feed the wrong things in our lives. Most rebellious people believe they can do a better job than the person in the position. That's a spirit of rebellion. Proverbs tells us our way is always right in our eyes. Today, we're looking at King David's son, Absalom.

David had some weaknesses, but his character and strength outweighed them. Absalom was angry at his father and felt he didn't handle some matters right. In our own lives, our bosses or church leadership may make decisions or ask us to do certain things we don't understand or find agreeable. They're not always able to tell us the overall plan.

Giving into rebellion will interfere with operating in the authority of God. He won't be able to entrust it to you. Absalom reasoned that he was in line for the throne, so it was time for him to take it. Scripture tells us he stole the hearts of the people.

Some hallmarks of rebellion:

1.  Weakness in other leaders and strength in myself.
2.  Reasons for my promotion and removal or demotion of others.
3.  Covets what is another's
4.  Tries to usurp instead of receive

Remember, David refused to usurp Saul's throne even though God had anointed him as the next king. He didn't try to make it happen. He waited until Judah made him king, and later, he became king over all Israel.
