Sunday Morning Series - Victory for Doubters - The Road Back
Text: Luke 24:13-48 & Various.
After Peter's famous declaration that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus informed them He would go the Jerusalem, be tried and crucified, and rise from the dead on the third day. It's recorded in the Gospels that He told them three times.
When He arose, they didn't believe the reports. They treated the news like idle tales. Only when He appeared to them personally did they believe.
The path of the doubter is to see things in the natural. They saw Him crucified, dead, and put in the tomb. Their senses screamed He was gone. Even though He'd told them He would rise again, they did not latch onto that word. Understanding is the most pivotal thing when it comes to the Word.

Sunday Morning Series - Victory for Doubters - Consider Not
Text: Various
One of the examples we've looked at is Abraham. Romans 4:19 tells us that he did not consider how old he was or Sarah's barren condition. He wasn't weak in his faith. Consider means, "to consider attentively, fix one's eyes or mind upon."
Paul is showing us what makes faith either strong or weak.
1) Don't consider the natural things that stand in your way. Abraham didn't look at his age or Sarah's barren womb.
2) Don't waver. Wavering is when you bounce between two opinions. In James 1:6-8, this is called being double minded.
3) Be fully convinced. Abraham didn't start out as a faith giant. It took a long time for him to get to a place where he trusted God's Word. Finally, he and Sarah both agreed with what God promised no matter what their circumstances. Isaac was born soon after.

Sunday Morning Series - Victory for Doubters - Look at This!
Text: Various
The key to success is believing the Word and doubting the things of the world.
Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We can corrupt and distort this pathway to faith by criticism. Those who are critical run everything through judgmental attitudes and never move beyond what they know.
Faith also comes by the Spirit (John 6:52-70). People need to ask for what they want. Blind Bartimaeus had to act on the word he heard. Faith comes in three steps: Hear, believe, and act.
Corruption can also come to our faith pathway through things we see. What I see attracts my attention, but not always my faith. When Pharoah saw the plagues ended, he hardened his heart. People who are doubters are usually ones who've been offended.
Don't become critics of everything you hear and see. It will make it difficult to receive the things of God.

Sunday Morning Series - Victory for Doubters - Reasonings
Text: Mark 2:1-12 & others.
Definition of Reasoning - (1) the act or process of a person who reasons. (2) the process of forming conclusions, judgments, or inferences from facts or premises. (3) the reasons, arguments, proofs, etc., resulting from this process.
Dialogizomai - to reckon thoroughly, to deliberate (by reflection or discussion), consider, dispute, muse, reason, think.
The Pharisees were happy to be near Jesus until something outside of the scope of their understanding occurred. When you criticize, you take facts and come to a conclusion. If Satan can corrupt the path by which faith comes (hearing), he can create doubt.
How do you get rid of doubt? Think about an empty glass. It contains air, but as you fill it with water, the air is displaced. If you get faith inside you, the doubt leaves. The only thing that can bring faith in is hearing the Word. All we need for doubt to come in is to see something we do not understand and begin reasoning.
