Sunday Morning Series - Hope That Does Not Waver - Hope and Healing

Text: Various

We've been looking at the gap between what is promised and what we possess. How do we jump that gap?

Are we in possession of healing or are we waiting for it? Our confession depends upon us knowing the answer to this question.

What does the Word tell us about healing? Isaiah 53:4-5 says that by His stripes we are healed. Physical healing is part of what Jesus paid for on the cross. Jesus never prayed for anyone to get healed. He spoke to the mountain (the sickness) and commanded it to leave. (Check out Matthew 8:16-17, I Peter 2:24, Galatians 3:13, and Deuteronomy 28:15-22, 27-29, & 35-61.)

God desires that we be healed. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, we see what He wants for us:

1. To take away sickness and satisfy us with long life.

2. He sent His word and healed them.

3. We're admonished not to forget his benefits.

4. Every good and perfect gift is from above.

(See Exodus 15:26, Exodus 23:25-26, Psalm 91:10 & 16, Psalm 103:2-3, Psalm 107.20, Matthew 7:11, James 1:17, Matthew 8:2-3.)

How do we receive healing?

1. Our confession should be in line with our hope. Healing is mine.

2. If we believe God is willing, then our confession is in line with our faith.

3. If we believe we shall be healed, then our confession must direct us to the object of our faith.

The only confessions that have no place in the Scripture is: someday or some way.
