Sunday Morning Series - 5 Minutes to Effective Prayers - Effective Prayer For Wisdoms

Text:  James 1:2-8

The #1 thing we should pray for is wisdom. The reason problems are problems is the uncertainty of what to do. If you have the answer to a problem, you really don't have a problem. There are three factors that make a problem big to us:

1) Uncertainty of action
2) Fear of acting
3) Inadequacy to act

When the Israelites reached the Promised Land, they considered themselves inadequate to take the land. They allowed the above factors to stop them.

To cure the uncertainty, we just need to know what to do. If you know how to solve a problem, you have wisdom. If you overcome uncertainty, fear, and inadequacy, you'll count it all joy.

Application:

1) How I got into the problem is not as important as how I get out of the problem. If your plumbing springs a leak, you need to stop it otherwise you'll have a huge mess.

2) Prepare to deal with the problem. Don't run away.

3) Ask for wisdom, but only if you're prepared to act.

4) Watch your speech. If you're speaking faith one minute and moaning the next, you're wavering and won't receive God's wisdom.

5)  Recognize wisdom when it comes, and then act on it.

Due to technical difficulties with uploading sermons, this won't appear on the Sermon Player yet. All of the messages through last Wednesday's mid-week service are on there. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you're visiting in the area or looking for a church home, we invite you to our Sunday Morning Service at 10:00 A.M. We're located at 1111 Easton Road (Rte. 611), in Warrington, PA. The church phone number is (215) 343-7686. We look forward to meeting you.
