Text: James 1:2-8
1. But I Have Needs!
A. If I am insufficient in an area, then I am in lack or I have a need.
Many needs are recorded in Scripture. See John 13:29, Acts 2:45, Acts 4:34-35,
Luke 9:11, 2 Corinthians 11:9, I John 3:17
B. Should there be times of need? See Hebrews 4:6, Titus 1:5. Just because I have needs
doesn't mean I can't have joy or patience.
2. Many people say that trials produce patience. That's incorrect. It's the testing of our faith that produces patience.
3. Why do we have impatience? When I have a need now, and it doesn't change. It's fine to have a need, but we have to handle it right.
4. How is patience produced? The trial you fall into - God didn't lead you there. When you fall into it, be glad, count it all joy.The trial will test our faith. We need "bull-dog faith," a total refusal to let go of the word and promises of God.
5. When we fall into a trial:
A. Maintain our joy. Don't get mad, angry, or whine.
B. You may fall into various trials, but don't walk into them. Let God guide you around them.
C. Your need may not be revealed yet, but James tells us to"let patience have its perfect work..."
which means it's up to you.
D. Ask for what you need in faith, without no doubting. Remember, just because you have doubt in your head doesn't mean it's in your heart. Stay in faith.
