Sunday Morning Series - Under the Surface - Because of Your Words
Text: Daniel 10:1-14 and Various
In Daniel 8:15-19, Daniel saw a vision. It's interesting to note what he said, "When I had seen the vision AND was seeking the meaning..." Seeing without seeking is not going to bring understanding. All you will know is on the surface rather than under it.
The angel, Gabriel, is sent to Daniel to make him understand the vision. Daniel is overwhelmed by the vision and in a deep sleep. In verse 19, the angel tells him to "Look I am making known to you..." We can have an awesome spiritual experience, but it won't give us the understanding. We're not to focus on the event but hone in on hearing and understanding the meaning of it.
Why did God send Gabriel to Daniel? For answers to this question and more, please visit our website and click on the Listen Tab. You can listen online, download it to your MP3 player, or podcast.
If you're visiting in the area or looking for a church home, we invite you to our Sunday Morning Service at 10:00 AM. Zoe Christian Fellowship is located at 1111 Easton Rd. (Route 611), in Warrington, PA. We look forward to meeting you!
Question for you: What part of the teaching spoke to your heart/surprised you? Please share.

Sunday Morning Series - Under The Surface - Not Joy
Text: Luke 15:11-32
The father of the Prodigal Son could have been bitter. His younger boy asked for his inheritance while the father was still alive. He not only granted that son's request, but he also gave his older son his double portion.
For those unfamiliar with portions in the Bible, the older son obtained a double portion. That doesn't mean he got twice as much as the other son/sons. It means if there were two sons, the inheritance would be split into three portions. The older son would get two portions, and the younger son would get one.
When the prodigal returns home, he acknowledges his error and humbles himself before his father. He doesn't claim any right. Before he can offer to be a hired servant, the father calls him, "son," and prepares a celebration. He doesn't look to be right but to restore the young man.
The older son chose to be bitter against his brother. He received his double portion and didn't lose anything. He could have had a party for his friends anytime he wanted. The father chose to react with grace and love.
How do we react when wronged? I Peter 1:8 tells us to not walk in anything that is NOT JOY. If we're walking in bitterness, joy isn't present. If we're walking in joy, bitterness cannot remain. Faith is always accompanied by joy because we're walking in obedience to the Lord.

Sunday Morning Series - Under the Surface - Getting to the Water
Text: John 4:1-30
Proverbs 20:5 says, "Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out."
Jesus came to the well, but did not come with a vessel or rope to draw out water. Unfortunately, with the written word we cannot hear the inflections in the speakers' voices. From her words, it seems like she was almost sarcastic or defensive. She immediately points out that the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. It doesn't seem like she looks down on herself but expects certain groups to do so.
Jesus doesn't respond to her question, but tells her if she knew who she was talking to she'd ask for living water. She comments on His spiritual truth with a natural question about His lack of anything to draw water from the well and where would He get this water.
He identifies Himself as the Messiah - something He almost never did - even after her sarcastic/defensive comments. What changed her attitude toward Him?

Sunday Morning Series - Having Faith in Your Prayers - Revelation and Understanding
Text: Matthew 1:1-28 and Various
How does great revelation from God get turned into something far less than great or even foolishness by us?
The religious leaders came to Jesus for the purpose of testing Him. We're not talking about the kind of testing that determines what a person knows but rather the kind that seeks to entrap. Their approach had a bad motive and attitude. These two things if tainted will always produce something off or even completely false.
When people come into a discussion with a selfish motive and the pride of one who thinks they are right, what will happen? Notice, Jesus leaves them feeling no obligation or reason to show them anything. Just because someone asks us a question, doesn't mean we have to answer them.
In Matthew 16:5-12, Jesus is teaching them. He turns to His disciples and gives a warning to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. Their minds were focused on something else. They were responsible to bring bread, but had forgotten to do so. We tend to hear things based on what our mind and spirit focus on. This was a great revelation Jesus was imparting but a pretty simple one. They didn't get it.
"Then they understood..." Do we spend time seeking to understand the revelations God gives us? (Daniel 8:15 & 10:12) Daniel did two important things: 1) He set his heart to understand, and 2) He humbled himself.
How do we both receive revelation and understand it?
