Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-5 and Various
How do we become false teaching proof?
1. Create an atmosphere that makes false doctrine uncomfortable.
2. Resistant Soil - If you know the Word, you'll get a warning from your spirit.
A. If you dislike a certain food, no matter how it's fixed, you won't eat it.
B. The enemy will try to make it palatable.
3. Direct Confrontation - This can be done either privately or publicly. In Acts 18:24-26, Paul publicly rebuked Peter for his hypocrisy. He ate with the Gentile believers, but when Jewish believers arrived from Jerusalem, he withdrew himself. Since this was done in front of everyone, the correction had to be public.
4. A love for the Word -
A. Not a love for what's new.
B. Content with what the Word teaches (John 14:1-24). You cannot separate the word from Jesus. I John 2:5
5. Pathways to Truth -
A. Clearly taught in the Word.
B. Repeatedly taught in the Word.
C. Examples and demonstrations give in the Word of God.
I Timothy 4:1-8 says that in the latter times some will give heed to doctrines of demons.
Put yourself in a position to endure and be healthy. In the natural we try to make good choices on what to eat. Spiritually, make good choices on what teaching to receive. It must be in line with the Word.
Exercise - We physically exercise to stay strong, and being doers of the Word likewise increases our spiritual strength.
Clean up - We remove the dirt from our bodies. In the spiritual sense, we walk away from what the Bible teaches is sin.
Socialize - We're well rounded when we socialize with others. We grow together as we remain in fellowship with other believers.
