Sunday Morning Message - Connie Hecht

Text:  Matthew 6:25 and 6:26a, and various

Jesus commanded us not to worry about our life - what we shall eat, drink, our bodies, and what we shall wear. Yes, there are many uncertainties in life, but they are facts not truth.

God talks about how he cares for the bird of the air, which neither sow, reap or store food in barns. Jesus says if the Father feeds them, how much more valuable are you? Yes, you are valuable to God.

It grieves me when I hear older people talk about being on a fixed income. God not only keeps young people and provides for them, but also the elderly. Now, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be wise in how we handle our finances. The Word talks about leaving an inheritance for our grandchildren.

So, how do we stop worrying? It's a process. Replace worry with the Word of God. The enemy tries to put thoughts in our heads, but we don't have to take them. We can override and reject them by speaking what the Word says. When a symptom comes, do we accept it. No, we come against it with Isaiah 53:3-5.

Cast off thoughts of worry and fear. The word, cast, means to forcefully get something away from us. We were never meant to carry worry. It produces a great many illnesses, depression, and grief. Fear will keep you from stepping out and obeying God when He directs you to do something.
