Sunday Morning Series - Faithful & True - Patient

Some specific elements are linked through the New Testament. In I Thessalonians 1:3, we see faith, love, patience, joy, and hope mentioned together. They also appear in I Timothy 6:11, Titus 2:2, and James 1:2-3. When something is repeated, it's like a flag going up saying, "this is important. Pay attention."

What is patient endurance? It's faithfulness in thought, word, and actions. God promised Abraham a son, but that promise wasn't fulfilled for a long time. Abraham had some "patience failures," but he got back on track. God's promise hadn't been revoked because of his slip-ups. When Abraham persevered in patience, God met him, and Isaac was born.

What are some challenges to patience? Fear is anxious, while faith is patient. The enemy piles on the stress, trying to provoke a fearful reaction instead of patient faith. Do we make mistakes? Sure. Yet, like Abraham, if we repent, and move forward, we'll see the reward of patient faith.
