Text: John 4:46-54
What we believe is made up of what we:
1) Hear
2) Read in the Word
3) See around us
4) Can imagine based on what we hear, read and see.
These form the basis for our future actions and are what we have hope for, faith for, and expectation.
In our text the nobleman comes to Jesus and asks Him to come heal his son. He traveled 25 miles and expected Jesus to come home with him. Instead, Jesus makes a remark about how people want a sign. The nobleman didn't give up and again requests Jesus to heal his son. Jesus tells him to go his way. His son is healed. The father returns home based on Jesus' words.
Originally, he came to Jesus out of desperation. Jesus doesn't respond to desperation. While he started out of desperation, he graduated to faith by obeying Jesus' word. He'd had a plan in his mind that didn't work out, but he was open to the Lord's way of doing things.
