Text: Joshua 1:8 and various
In John 15:1-5 Jesus declares he is the true vine, the Father is the husbandman, and we are the branches. Apart from the vine, we can do nothing.
Some people worry they're not producing fruit if they're not leading others to Jesus. Fruit is different from reproduction. Being fruitful relates to us alone-our character.
In order to produce fruit, the right conditions must be present. We must water the seed.
Proverbs 6:2, 15:4, 18:21, I Peter 3:10, and Samuel 2:1-3 all talk about the words of our mouth. We water the fruit-producing seed when we speak God's Word. Allowing doubt and unbelief to pour from our lips waters weeds. The woman with the issue of blood kept telling herself if she could just touch the hem of Jesus' garment she'd be healed. Her words produced the fruit of faith, and she was healed.
God's water comes from what we see, say, and hear (the Word of God). Weeds come from seeing, saying, and hearing things contrary to God's Word.
