Sunday Morning Series - Give God Something to Work With - Great Faith Is...

Text:  Matthew 15:21-28 & Mark 7:24-30

Jesus said someone had great faith 2 times. One was a man, and one was a woman. We're going to look at what makes great faith.

In Matthew 15-21-24 and Mark 7:24-26, we're told about a Gentile woman, who approaches Jesus on the basis of mercy. He ignores her, but she won't leave Him alone. Finally, He informs her that it isn't fitting to give the children's bread to dogs. He came for the lost house of Israel. She could have become offended or argued, but she agreed with Jesus. However, she pointed out that even dogs get the crumbs that fall from the children's table.

Her worship and acknowledgment of truth caught Jesus' attention. He tells her that her daughter is healed because of her words.

Great Faith

Jesus calls her faith great. Why?

1.  She recognized the source. Because Jesus said the words, she accepted them as truth.

2.  She accepted them no matter what her emotions or intellect told her.

3.  She declared a truth based upon it.

4.  She does not speak words to contradict the truth already declared.

Application:

1.  Accept truth revealed. Don't fight God.

2.  Declare/act based upon it.

3.  Depend on no natural stimulation.
