In Proverbs 10:11, 18:4, and Isaiah 12:3, the Bible refers to wells in us. However, it also talks about rivers in us. (See John 7:38 and John 4:6-14) What is the difference between a well and a river?
1) Wells serve some people, one at a time. You have to get a bucket and a rope and haul it up from a deep place.
2) Rivers serve many people, many at a time. They are on the surface and easier to access.
How does this relate to us?
1) When we are saved, we have a well within us.
2) When we Spirit-filled, we have a river within us.
Draw from the well within us:
1) Prayer
2) Reading the Word
3) Ears to hear
4) Study
5) Speak/say, including praying in the Holy Spirit.
Become a river:
1) Rivers flow.
2) Others can come and receive.
Receive from the rivers:
1) God has placed gifts in the church.
2) How you receive from them determines whether or not you benefit.
