Text: Genesis 1:1-31 and various
Last week, we looked at Gideon. He was supporting a poor view of himself, and it affected his life. It wasn't until he came into agreement with God's view that he was able to deliver Israel from her enemies. Abraham also had to stop looking at his present circumstances and take God at His word. In the same way, we need to find out what's supporting a situation in our lives and make adjustments.
Even in Genesis, word choice is critical to understanding the meaning of a passage. The earth wasn't created around the time Adam was created. In Genesis 1:1-2, the word, "was" in Hebrew should have been translated "became." (See Isaiah 45:18, Jeremiah 4:23-28, Psalms 104:5-9, Ezekiel 28:12-19.)
There are three words for "create" in Hebrew:
1. Bara - to bring into being (out of nothing)
2. Asah - to make out of already existing materials, to make or mold something out of existing materials.
3. Let - used 13 times here in Genesis 1.
God said, "Let there be light" is not the creation of the sun, but rather the re-authorization of light. Without the sun, no water can exist on earth. Water needs a certain temperature range, so the sun is already in place. Young's Literal Translation - "and God saith, "Let light be, and light is."
Saying was critical to the miracles in the New Testament. Matthew 8:5-7, Jesus said that He would come and heal him." In John 2:3-11, Mary commanded the servants to do whatever Jesus said. In Mark 7:25-30, Jesus said the woman received her miracle because of what she said.
What power is being released in your life? Are you talking about your job, relationships, health, and other situations in a negative way? You're launching the wrong words. Launch words that create what you want to happen.
