What I believe may be camouflaged at times by what I say, but it is exposed in what I think and do. We've been looking at recurring issues: 1) Health issues that don't get healed. 2) Weight gain/loss - the yo-yo effect, etc.
In Exodus, we see the Israelites kept desiring to return to Egypt. Exodus 13:17-18 tells us that God led them away from the Philistine territory because He knew they'd turn back to Egypt if they faced adversity. They'd cried out to God to deliver them from Egypt, but they had a short memory.
Every time they faced a challenge, they'd talk about returning to Egypt and all the wonderful things they had there. They forgot the slavery, the meager food rations, the beatings. Why did they have this recurring desire to return to something so bad? They believed what they had was better than what they had now.
Tactic of the Enemy - He tries to get you to look back or ahead rather than be thankful for where you are right now.
Some lies he tries to sell you:
1. God is in control. The Scripture clearly states that it's God's will that all should be saved. Jesus came and healed the multitudes - all of them. If Satan can get people to buy this lie, then everything that happens to them is God's will and they shouldn't fight it.
2. I'm nothing. God says He loves you and has a plan for your life.
3. It's not working. When you're believing God for healing or anything else and you don't see immediate results, it's tempting to say, "it's not working." One person noted that if it's not working, why is the enemy trying so hard to get you to give up?
For the most part, our ability to remember fails. We can leave out the good parts and remember the bad or do the opposite. How many remembrances did God set up for Israel? He set up the 7 Feasts of Israel, memorials, and the ark of the covenant as reminders of all He'd done for them. God told them 29 times what He'd done for them in Egypt after they left that country. God wants us to remember things correctly, as they happened. the enemy wants to corrupt it.
