Text: Numbers 16:1-40
The priestly line in the Old Testament included Levi, his three sons, and their descendants. One of Levi's sons, Kohath, had four sons. Two of them were Amram and Izhar. Amram sons, Moses and Aaron, were chosen to lead Israel. Izhar's son, Korah, became dissatisfied and made accusations against the leaders.
To get you into rebellion, the enemy must get you dissatisfied. Never look at what you're called to do as a small thing. They, their families, and all their belongs end up being swallowed by the earth.
Dathan and Abiram continued their rebellion even after seeing what happened to Korah. They were instructed to fill their censers, and the Lord would show who he had chosen. They are consumed by fire. A memorial is made of the bronze censers they used. It's hammered and attached to the bronze altar.
Memorials were used not only for good things but also for bad things. On one hand they honored the deserving, while the other served as a warning to those who wanted to rebel.
