Sunday Morning Service - Enduring Change - How to Have Less Trouble (and More)

Text:  I Corinthians 15:58 and various

""So my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Do not let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your work in the Lord is never wasted." (NCV)

The Zoe kids were in the grown-up service today. What a joy to see them worshiping the Lord and participating in the object lesson.

Sometimes we're not doing a lot wrong, but just need a small adjustment. Pastor Steve demonstrated how to spin a gyroscope. They have many uses like keeping planes stable and steadying ships on the high seas. When it spins, nothing can move it in another direction. God has put a similar mechanism in us, but we can use it to reduce trouble or increase it. What are some of the things that try to get us to change rather than remain steadfast in God?

1.  In the Garden, the enemy asked a question. "Has God really said...?"  The enemy tries to make us question God's Word. "Has God really said not to fear, worry, and be anxious?" Watch out for questions that enter our minds and make us doubt the Word.

2.  Take care of our  needs (using the principles of faith for what you want). It's not about always getting what you want but seeking God's direction for your life.

3.  Matt. 4:2 - The enemy tries to get us to question who you are. He'll accuse us and tell us we're not a good wife, husband, mother, father, son, daughter, friend, Christian, etc. When this happens, answer and say, "Thank you,  Lord, that I'm a good ____, and You're teaching me more every day."

4.  Taking the easier way (an excuse to avoid struggles and suffering). When we follow God's direction, we'll get resistance. There will be struggles and sometimes suffering involved. Yet, His paths lead to life and blessings.

5.  Is it really worth it (an excuse to quit)? We get weary, and it's easy to move away from what God has called us to do. When that happens, keep obeying God's direction.
