Last week, we looked at the different kinds of soil that represent the condition of our hearts. Rocky soil received the Word, but it didn't have enough soil to become firmly rooted. How do rocks get in the soil?
1. Offenses
2. Other people - say things, do things
3. False doctrine - hinders people from receiving the truth.
How do we remove the rocks?
1. Cleaning house - identify those things causing bitterness, resentment, anger and repent for holding it against others.
2. Test the spirits
3. Teaching - on the Word of God
4. Mentors - listen to them
5. Yielding to the Holy Spirit
6. Prayer and fasting
Thorns - since the fall of man, weeds have been a problem. Thorns aren't a problem until they begin to grow.
What causes good seed to grow?
1. Meditate on the Word
2. Think on good things.
3. Believe the best in others.
4. Expect blessings.
5. Inspect the soil of our hearts.
