Text: 2 Chronicles 34:1-33, 15:19-27
In John 8:12, Jesus declared He is the light of the world. Those that follow Him won't walk in darkness, but have the light of life. Even though He is the light of the world, only those that walk with Him will walk in that light.
Darkness has never overtaken light. The enemy cannot defeat the light, so he tries to get us to cover it up. When God tells you to love your brother, it's to let the light in. When God tells you not to fear, it's to let the light in.
Back when Josiah became king at the age of eight, Judah was worshipping idols. They even brought them into the temple and sacrificed their children. As he grew, he wanted to know more about his ancestor, King David. Each bit of information brought more light, and Josiah acted upon it. Idolatry was wrong? He went throughout the land, destroying their altars.
When a book of the Law of Moses was discovered in the temple, Josiah had it read to him. Again, he acted on the new light it brought to him. The temple was cleaned out and restored.
When he was in the 31st year of his reign, Josiah ignored the warning of an Egyptian king to stay out of the battle. They had no argument with him and wouldn't come against Judah. He put on a disguise and ended up dying from wounds he received. He ignored the light, and his reign was cut short at the young age of 39.
