Text: Mark 5
The needed ingredients:
1) Have faith in God.
2) Speak to the thing a specific course of action.
3) Do not doubt in your heart. (We will be focusing on this today.)
4) But believe that those things you say WILL come to pass.
5) You will have whatever you say.
It's possible to doubt in your head and believe in your heart. What's the difference? What's the evidence of doubt?
Being tempted is not the same thing as sinning. Satan tempts us with thoughts. It's only when we meditate on them and take action that it becomes sin. Reject the thought as soon as it comes. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, but did not sin. On the other hand, Adam and Eve listened to the enemy's suggestions and acted on them.
According to James 1:5-8, doubting is wavering. It's being double-minded. One who doubts vacillates between belief and unbelief.
When do doubts in your head (mind) become doubts in your heart? In Mark 5, the woman with the issue of blood followed a pattern: She had faith, spoke to the mountain, and took action. Which way would Jairus go? What was Jesus concerned with: the thoughts Jairus had or what came out of his mouth? When the report came that his daughter was dead, Jesus immediately told him not to fear but believe. He did not want Jairus to express doubtful thoughts with his mouth.
