Sunday Morning Series - Learn to Discern - Setting the Bar
Text: Mark 5:21-36
Today (5/24/15) is Pentecost Sunday. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to 500 people and instructed them to go to Jerusalem and wait until the Holy Ghost was poured out. When the time came, only 120 were in the Upper Room. 380 people didn't show up.
They had a revelation, but didn't act on it. We'll see from today's story of the woman with the issue of blood how she responded to the revelation she got. Like these folks, you can get a revelation, but it's important what you do with it.
We need to spend some time building up principles that our belief can grasp. The less Word you know, the longer this will take.
1) Do you have to be taught?
2) Or just reminded?
You have to be hungry - this is not casual. How desperate you need to be before you get this hungry will vary, but the more mature you become, the less desperate you need to be. Get the teaching on healing, finances, and other subjects now before you enter a time of crisis.
The woman's problem was clearly stated: she had an issue of blood for 12 years. There is a difference between simply stating a problem you have and taking ownership of it. It is not just about the words you use, but what you believe in your heart.
What is necessary to develop the kind of belief we're talking about:
1) Meditate on it and develop beliefs in line with the truth.
2) Then proclaim what you believe (confession).
The woman with the issue of blood did her part:
1) She believed
2) She got to where Jesus was
3) She acted by touching the hem of His garment.

Sunday Morning Series - Learn to Discern - Brave Heart and Die Hard
Text: I Kings 13:1-34
After Solomon died, a prophet told Jeroboam and he would become king over 10 tribes. The remaining two tribes would stay with the house of David.
The word gets out to Solomon's son, and Jeroboam flees to Egypt. While in Egypt, Jeroboam is exposed to their gods and worldly influences.
When he's made king of the 10 tribes, he becomes fearful and tells himself that if the people go up to Jerusalem to worship, they'll abandon him. Be very careful what you say in your heart. If God gave you a promise, go after it God's way.
To keep the people at home, he makes two golden calves. Some of the people went to Judah when this occurred, but many bought into this worship.
God sends a prophet to him and condemns the heathen altar. By doing so, judgment is also declared upon those who follow. Jeroboam comes against him (not his message).
That same prophet was instructed by God to deliver his message and to not eat or drink until he returned home. On his way home, another prophet tells him an angel appeared and instructed him to come to his house and eat. The first prophet accepts the word even though God gave him clear instructions. The man lied to him.
Satan will use anything he can to destroy our faith in God's Word and raise up doubts:
1. From without
2. From within
God speaks to the prophet who lied and uses him to condemn the true prophet who he deceived. If God can use this man, don't disqualify yourself for ministry. Don't let the enemy disqualify you.
What helps us endure and remain faithful?
1. After you hear from God, begin seeing yourself doing what He said.
2. Declare it at every opportunity. Jesus did this all the time. Remember when He was in the temple and read the Scripture? He then closed the scroll and said, "This day is this scripture fulfilled..."

Sunday Morning Series - Learn to Discern - Do It Again
Text: Exodus 3, 4 & Hosea 1, 3
Sometimes God will have us return to the same thing. For example, God called Moses to deliver the Children of Israel from Egyptian slavery. He jumped in there without any preparation and failed. Years later, God speaks to him from a burning bush and once again calls him to deliver his people. Moses probably thinks back to that first attempt and makes all kinds of excuses.
God gave him answers for all his excuses, including having his brother, Aaron, act as his mouthpiece. He finally agrees. It's a hard thing to go back and do something you attempted before. Make sure it's God sending you back and not "we want to go back to Egypt."
What kind of things has God set you back to do? Make sure you know the difference between a burning bush and a hot, dry wilderness. Moses heard from God, but the Children of Israel wanted to escape the wilderness.
How many people have burned you in the past? How many have gotten burned in the ministry?

Special Speaker - Kate McVeigh
Text: Various
We were blessed to have Rev. Kate McVeigh with us this weekend, along with Worship Leader, Angel Garrett. Kate shared a timely message. Here's a sampling, but to get the full message, see below for details.
Many deal with discouragement. Did you know what that word means?
1. To dismiss courage
2. To melt
3. To break down
4. To be cast down
Isaiah 42:4 is a prophecy about the Messiah. It says that He would not be discouraged. Jesus had plenty of opportunities to be discouraged. At the height of His ministry, He was accused of doing miracles by Satan's power. He chose to reject discouragement and move forward in His calling.
Get a vision of were you want to be. Don't give up on your dreams and visions.
Words hold great power. Moses refused to be called the son of Pharoah's daughter. The word, "called," means "to summon." When you get a summons to appear in court, you'd better go or you'll get in big trouble. Refuse the call (summons) to be anything other than what God calls you. He calls you blessed, healed, His own, and many other things.
One of my favorite quotes from the message: Miracles come in cans - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Don't miss this excellent, encouraging message. Visit our website and click on the Listen tab. You can listen online, download it to your MP3 player, or podcast FREE.
