Text: Daniel 9:1-27
Many questions are being asked of God that He doesn't care about. They open the door for answers from another source.
We are not to test for truth. We're to test for the source of the answer. The devil can give you truth for the purpose of destruction. God gives us truth for the purpose of life.
When Jesus was with the Pharisees, He knew their thoughts. You cannot have a number of people having the same thoughts except from the same source. When we accept thoughts from a source other than God, they unpack such things as a critical spirit, distrust, anger, and hatred.
In Daniel 9:1-3, Daniel asks God a question. It came as a result of studying God's Word. Since faith comes from the Word of God, this question is born of faith. It's not, "How come this hasn't happened?" It's "What happens now?"
"Are we there yet?" The question has hidden qualities:
1. Dissatisfaction with where I am.
2. Ungrateful for the work done on my behalf.
3. Impatient to get somewhere.
Our questions to God can take the form of, "Why haven't You healed me yet?" "Why is a new believer seeing answers to prayer and I'm not?"
We need to improve our questions. What if we changed, "Are we there yet?" to "How far are we driving? "How far have we gone?"
What qualities must our questions contain:
1. Faith
2. Patience (Hebrews 6:11)
3. Contentment
4. Thanksgiving
It's CONTENT NOT POSITION that gets our questions answered. Daniel was called, "greatly beloved," but Gabriel came because of Daniel's words.
