Sunday Morning Series - Hear, Test, Believe - Asking Good Questions

Text:  John 4:1-43

Jesus and the disciples arrive at the well in Samaria. He's tired and hungry, so he sits down to rest. The disciples go into the city to get food. Wisdom Tidbit #1 - What should you do if you're tired? Rest. Jesus did it, and it's okay.

A woman comes to draw water, and Jesus asks her if she'd draw some water for him. She doesn't reply, but questions the question. She wants to know why he, a Jew, is talking to her, a Samaritan woman. He makes a statement that if she knew who she was talking with she'd ask for the living water.

Ignorance leads to a question that is very limited. The answers given must fit in with the sphere of what I know and can accept. She's stuck thinking about natural water when Jesus is talking about spiritual things.

Our questions need to be born of knowledge and understanding. We must remove limits and distractions. If our perception is off, our revelation will be too. Don't just study the Word to get answers. Study the Word to get questions.
