We've been looking at healing both from the perspective of illness/disease and injury. Jesus handled cases of injury differently than He did with physical illness.
When we see or experience something bad, how often does our mind go to what bad thing must have been done. The disciples asked Jesus a question about the man blind from birth. They wanted to know who sinned, the man or his parents. If a question is based on a wrong assumption, we're going to get a wrong answer.
They wanted to know the cause, but Jesus dealt with the man's situation. He told them neither the man nor his parents sinned. Note: In the Greek there is no punctuation. All punctuation is supplied by the translators. Jesus answered their question. There should be a period after His statement that neither the man nor his parents sinned. The next sentence starts with, "But...," and continues on through the next verse.
The injury in this case was most likely a birth defect. Some part of the anatomy is missing or not functioning properly.
How did Jesus deal with injuries? Generally, the person was commanded to do something. The man with the withered arm was told to stretch it forth. When he obeyed without question, he was immediately healed. Jesus made mud from spit and dirt and put it on the blind man's eyes. He was told to go wash in the pool of Siloam. When he obeyed, he received his sight.
To be healed of an injury, you've got to hear what Jesus is saying and then obey what He said. We get into a position to receive His command when we read and listen to the Word. It's how we become sensitive to the voice of God. If you're not constantly under the Word, you won't hear.
