Sunday Morning Series - Under the Surface - The Colors in Us

Text:  I Kings 19:1-18

David was sent to help Saul. When the women celebrated David's victory in battle with a song, Saul's color was red (his response - anger).

In response to persecution, John Mark's color was blue (because he turned cold to the call and the ministry).

Our responses are completely what we allow. Usually, it is to something simple, but is generated from a build up of emotions not a reaction to a single event.

Elijah's reaction to Jezebel's threats seemed out of proportion after his victory over the prophets of Baal. What was building up in Elijah?

1.  Strong self awareness - After all he'd done for God and people, he probably felt unappreciated.

2.  Isolation - No one else is as faithful.

3.  God's apparent inaction -  God should have stopped  this.

4.  Fear - I'm afraid to operate at this  level.

Problems or failed expectations can derail us from the path God put us on.
